What is Follow for Discount?
Follow for Discount is a Shopify app that helps merchants reward verified Instagram followers. It promotes the offer through storefront widgets, checks follow status through Instagram DM, and sends an eligible shopper a single-use Shopify discount code.
Can I give Shopify customers a discount for following my Instagram account?
Yes. A shopper can open your Instagram DM from a Follow for Discount widget and request the offer. The app checks whether the shopper follows your connected Instagram account before issuing an eligible discount code.
Which Instagram accounts can merchants connect?
Merchants can connect one supported professional Instagram account: a Business or Creator account.
How does a shopper request the discount?
The shopper opens the merchant’s Instagram DM and selects the configured Ice Breaker or sends the exact uppercase message DISCOUNT.
What happens if the shopper does not follow the Instagram account?
The shopper receives the merchant’s configured follow-first message and a retry button. Follow status is checked again on every recognized retry.
How is the discount delivered?
An eligible shopper receives a reward explanation in Instagram DM followed by a separate message containing only the discount code. The shopper copies the code and enters it manually at Shopify checkout.
Are the discount codes single-use?
Yes. App-generated discount codes begin with FFD and are created for single use.
Can discount codes expire?
Yes. A merchant can set a reward to expire after 1, 3, or 7 days, or remain valid without an expiration date.
Which discount types are supported?
Follow for Discount currently supports a fixed percentage reward or a randomized percentage up to a merchant-defined maximum. Fixed-amount rewards are coming soon.
Can the same Instagram user receive multiple discounts?
The merchant controls this with the “Allow multiple discounts” campaign setting. This setting is separate from plan usage limits.
How does the Basic plan limit work?
Basic supports Up to 100 rewarded Instagram users per month. If the same user receives another allowed reward during that month, that additional reward does not consume another unique-user quota slot.
Which widgets are available?
The Persistent Edge Teaser is available on all plans. The Gift and Scratch Card and Timed Notification widgets are available on Growth and Scale.
Why is my widget not appearing?
Confirm that the campaign is Live, a supported Instagram account is connected, the Shopify theme app embed is enabled, and an eligible widget has been configured and saved.
What happens when I pause a campaign?
Pausing hides the storefront widgets, removes the app-managed Ice Breaker, and stops discount-request processing. The campaign configuration is retained.
Does disconnecting Instagram affect the campaign?
Yes. Disconnecting the Instagram account also pauses the campaign.
Do Discount Logs show whether a code was redeemed?
No. Discount Logs record code issuance. They do not currently establish code redemption, orders, refunds, cancellations, or revenue attribution.
Is widget analytics data always complete?
Not necessarily. Widget engagement analytics can depend on shopper consent and successful browser-event delivery.
